A little more comfortable than the 520 seriesNov 04, 2009 I purchased this item after breaking my 520 headset ( my fault for having it in a place it should not have been ). I wanted to try a different one, I was satisfied with voyager 520, but the wind noise on headset was to noisy according to people I called and talk with, while walking or driving. Voyager 510 fits a little better with choice of ear piece. Wind noises in my opinion is a lot better. The only thing I don't to much care about is the earlobe piece... a little cumbersome fitting on.
Great but QC issuesNov 04, 2009 I just threw my second one in the trash. The first one lasted a little over a year and had me singing high praise. The 510 met all 3 of the major criteria for a BT earpiece: sounded good to me and the people I talked to, it was super comfortable even on the longest of days, and it was loud enough. Simple list of important features right? Then why is it so hard to find a decent BT earpiece?! Anyhow- after a year the battery wouldn't hold a charge on the first on I got. The second one lasted about 3 months and then everybody said I sounded "really far away". Trying a Motorola H695 now. So far it is just ok- they filter out the low end frequencies so I sound thin on the other end and the voice in my ear sounds a bit thin too. Tolerable though, a couple days in.
Plantronics vs. Motorola bluetooth headsetsNov 02, 2009 I previously had a Motorola H700 headset. The microphone and audio performance was terrible, and people on the other end had trouble understanding me because of the headset. Once I turned off the headset and spoke into the cell phone, I had perfect reception and could carry on a conversation, so it wasn't a cell phone issue. Then I received the Plantronics Voyager 510, and I could use the headset at all times and the conversation came in crisp and clear. The range on the Plantronics is also very good, and I can go a long distance before I am out of range of the cell phone. One of the things I don't like about the Plantronics is that the button controls are not as easy to use as the Motorola. I sometimes inadvertantly and unknowingly turn off the Plantronics bluetooth, and have to turn it back on when another call comes in. But now I enjoy hands free clear conversations while driving or at home with the Plantronics headset. Definately recommended over the Motorola headsets, and it was less expensive too.
Great headsetNov 02, 2009 This is my first Bluetooth headset, but I have had many wired headsets over the years. This is the best one I have had, hands down. Only one was a better value ((performance+comfort)/price) and that was one that I bought from a guy on the street for $10! I got lucky. Don't have to think about that one anymore, because the Voyager 510 is the new king of headsets! Buy it, and you will see.
bad audio qualityNov 02, 2009 It is hard to turn on and off and the sound quality is terrible. Everything is distorted, no matter how low the volume. I would not recommend this product.
